By Chris Brantley. A quick basic camp for my
Illyrians (DBA I/47) representing a stone fortress typically built on rocky
hills by the ancient Illyrians...many of which provided the foundation for
later medieval castles. The fortress is piece of pink insulation board
scribed with an X-Acto knife to create the impression of stone work. A
black wash to fill in the cracks and then a heavy dry-brush with two shades
of gray for the stonework. The door is made up of wooden coffee
stirrers. The base is cut from a piece of textured vinyl plank flooring
(Allure), a free sample of which I picked up at Home Depot.
