Carolingian Stockade

By Greg Kelleher, for his Carolingian Frank DBA army. The Carolingians invariably used a circular palisade when defending their encampment. The elephant is Charlemagnešs. According to the chronicles, he took it on campaign until its death in 807. The base of the camp is cork and a piece of foam card was glued on top of this. The palisade is made up of matches that have been cut in half and one end carved with a blade.
