The Age of Persian Empire

THE AGE OF PERSIAN EMPIRE CONTEST

On March 27, Fanaticus announced an DBA campaign design contest based on the theme "The Age of Persian Empire."  The rules were as follows:

  • Scenarios should be based on the DBA campaign rules (but not necessarily the six-player campaigns on p. 17).
  • The scenario must include either the Early Achaemenid (I/60) or Later Achaemenid (II/7) Persian armies.
  • Variant/optional rules were allowed to add historical flavor.
  • A campaign map was required.

A total of five entries were received by the July 1 deadline and are listed here in alphabetical order by author's last name:

A Year of Battles: Persian Civil War (522 BCE)
by Andrew Fisher

Persia’s First Invasion of Greece (490 BCE)
by Matthew Kirkhart

The Founder: The Rise of the Persian Empire
under Cyrus the Great (550-529 BCE)

by Mark Kyriss

The Great Persian War (481-478 BCE)
by Paul Pecena

Near Eastern Campaign (550 BCE)
by Robert Runnels

Please review each entry and then vote for your favorite using the Fanatici mini-poll.  Voting will remain open until Saturday, July 25 (12:00 noon EST).

The winner will receive an unpainted all-options Early Achaemenid Persian DBA army, courtesy of Tom Dye at Minifigs USA.  Consolation prizes will be offered.

Note:  Are entries were HTML tagged and formatted by the Fanaticus imperator for the web.  Scenario maps have been revised to add the campaign name and author for purposes of identification.  Web-related design and layout considerations should not be factored into your evaluation.
