This is my Marian Roman (DBA II/49) army comprised primarily of 15mm Chariot figures.  All the figures were 'dipped' using a mahogany-coloured stain that sits in the folds and creases of clothing and armour quite nicely. The standard on the Cavalry General's element bears the title, "HASTA IV", because "Spear" is one of the few words of Latin I know that is suitably martial. Finally, many will recognize the Veni Vedi Vici shield transfers that are far neater than any paint job I could manage.

Early Imperial Morph

I started this army using an old style (pre-Magister Militum ownership) 15mm Chariot Miniatures' Ready Made Army. I was originally disappointed that the figures did not look "Marian' enough for me because of their rectangular shields. However, rather dwell on the negative, I decided to use this as an opportunity to create a Marian/Early Imperial Roman (II/56, 25BC-197AD) morph army that starts at the very end of the Marian period (approx. 27 BC) and stretches to the end of 1st Century AD. To do this I added a pack of auxiliaries in mail and a pack of legionaries in Lorica Segmentata (because they look right to me). The Cheiroballista and crew used for the artillery element are Corvus Belli and these were given to me by my former gaming partner, Texus Maximus.
