Chris Brantley's Etruscan League
(DBA I/57)

This is the Etruscan League (I/57) that futilely resisted the rise of Rome. The figures are mostly Old Glory Etruscans from an army pack, with a few Old Glory Campanian hoplites and horse, plus Donnington and Essex Etruscan hoplites, for variety. There is a Mayan axe figure thrown in to represent the Etruscan axeman who accompanied the chieftain, and which later evolved into the Roman fasces bearers. I passed on the opportunity to field the Etruscan horde as a parsel of priests waving firebrands and wriggling snakes, choosing instead to represent the horde as a group of relucant foot being urged forward by a pair of trumpeters.

The army was painted by David Kuijt and features a mix of Veni Vidi Vici shield transfers and David's own pen art. I'm afraid the pictures do not do full justice to his work, but at least it will give you a sense until I can master the art of the digital camera.
