Following the successful ejection of the Hyksos, the
Ahmosids (Dynasty XVIII) set about returning Egypt to
its glory days. Very light-built chariots were balanced
by blades and of course lots of archers. NKE are a
nicely balanced army, a great match-up to my Hyksos. I
prefer the (a) list and have gone for the "Ahmosid"
period, though by bringing in Sea-peoples (4Bd or 3Wb) I
can field the (b) list. My sources were (very much)
"Armies and Enemies of Ancient Egypt and Assyria" (WRG)
and (mainly for colour) "Ancient Armies of the
Middle East" (Osprey). Figures are all 1:72 Atlantic
except for the pinch-hitting Sea Peoples which are Hat.
Bases are for my desert range, Yellow Ochre mixed with
PVA and a sparse sprinkle of midsize flock.

Pharoah (LCh/Gen)
Atlantic made an Ahmose-looking figure so he gets to
be my general. The
pearly-white horses mark him out as well as runners and
messnger. Note the
original chariot sides are opened out and the wheels are
thinned down, to
suggest the super-light look.

Princes of Egypt (LCh)
Linen-band armor added to the standard Atlantic
helmed archer makes these
look more princely. The charioteers simply have linen
headgear added.

Medium Archers (3Bw)
I thought long and hard about adding body armor but
decided the XVIII
dynasty doesn't warrant it. These just have padded
helmets.

Light Archers (3Bw) and Psiloi (2Ps)

Blades (4Bd)
The XVIII dynasty had southern roots and a large
proportion of various
dark-skinned peoples entered the army. Two blade
elements have body armor and groin plate added. This
heavier gear was not universal.

Sea Peoples (3Bd/3Wb option)
The pinch-hitter. Many centuries after the
period most of the army represents!
