The following variant list for a Wallachian army (1330-1476 AD) has been provided by Antoine Blanchard, ablanch@club-internet.fr), especially for those of you who wish to refight the battles of Vlad Tepes (a.k.a Vlad the Impaler) during the period 1456-1462 and 1476).
EnemiesLater Polish (DBA#149), Later Ottoman (DBA#160b), and Later Hungarian (#DBA166) See Ref: IV 65.
Composition:| 1x | 3Cav |
| 3x | 2LH |
| 1x | 3Kn or 4Bd |
| 2x | 3Bw |
| 2x | 3Aux |
| 3x | 2Ps |
Mostly a mobile ambush army. Cavalry is the upper nobility, Light Horse for lesser boyards and Viteji. Bow, Auxilia and Psiloi refer to local foot. The Knight or Blade option does not stand for dismounting knights but rather the so-called crusader knights in Vlad's army or local pole arms. Both could have coexisted historically, but in small numbers. Thus I wouldn't allow both simultaneously. (I'd rather use Blade). You could perhaps include an Artillery option (and then 2x2Ps), but it would not reflect the guerilla tactics of the Wallachians.
